1. Role purpose
Klea Pharmaceuticals is building its UAE and wider MEA presence through in-licensed and acquired portfolios spanning prescription medicines, medical devices and nutraceuticals. Klea is an IP-led company: it holds the marketing authorisations and works through GMP-certified contract manufacturers and a UAE distribution partner. The Medical Representative is Klea’s scientific voice in front of healthcare professionals in an assigned territory. The role builds prescriber and pharmacist advocacy for the portfolio through evidence-based, compliant engagement, and turns that engagement into measurable demand.
The postholder works under Klea’s MOHAP scientific office licence. The role is scientific and promotional only: order-taking, pricing negotiation and stock handling sit with the distribution partner, not with Klea’s field force. This is a launch role. The successful candidate will introduce new brands to doctors and pharmacies that do not yet know Klea, and help shape how the company shows up in the market.
2. Key responsibilities
A. Territory coverage and HCP engagement
- Build and maintain a targeted customer list of physicians, pharmacists and key opinion leaders across the assigned territory, segmented by potential and prescribing behaviour.
- Deliver a planned call cycle with agreed call frequency and coverage targets across clinics, hospitals and retail pharmacies in both public and private sectors.
- Present product data clearly and accurately: mechanism, clinical evidence, positioning versus competitors, dosing and patient selection.
- Handle objections with evidence, not pressure, and escalate unanswered medical questions to the regulatory and medical function.
- Build strong relationships with pharmacy chains’ category and purchasing contacts to secure shelf presence and staff recommendation for OTC, device and nutraceutical lines.
B. Launches and scientific activity
- Execute brand launch plans in the territory, including pre-launch mapping, launch-wave calls and post-launch follow-up.
- Organise and support round-table meetings, CMEs, pharmacy staff trainings and in-clinic presentations in line with the approved plan and budget.
- Identify and develop local advocates and speakers, and feed their insights back to marketing.
- Represent Klea at congresses, exhibitions and society meetings as assigned.
C. Compliance and pharmacovigilance
- Use only promotional and scientific material approved by the Pharmacist in Charge; make no off-label or unapproved claims.
- Stay within the scope of the scientific office licence: no order-taking, invoicing, price negotiation or stock handling.
- Handle, record and reconcile product samples in line with MOHAP rules and Klea SOPs.
- Report any adverse event, product complaint or special situation heard in the field to pharmacovigilance within 24 hours.
- Complete all mandatory compliance, product and PV training on time.
D. Market intelligence and partnering
- Capture competitor activity, pricing signals, stock-outs and customer feedback, and report them in a structured weekly format.
- Work alongside the distribution partner’s sales team on joint visits, stock availability and listing follow-up.
- Keep CRM records complete and current: calls, samples, events, and customer insights.
- Submit accurate call reports, expense claims and monthly activity summaries on time.
3. Qualifications and licensing
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Biology, Biomedical Science, Nursing or another life-science discipline.
- Eligible for registration as a medical representative with MOHAP and the relevant emirate health authority (DHA, DoH).
- Valid UAE driving licence.
- Fluent professional English. Arabic strongly preferred.
Desirable
- Pharmacy degree, or a current UAE pharmacist licence.
- Formal sales or product training certificates from a recognised pharmaceutical company.
4. Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years as a medical representative in the UAE, with an established network of physicians and pharmacists in the target territory.
- A track record of meeting or exceeding targets, supported by numbers the candidate can explain.
- Launch experience with at least one new brand is a strong advantage.
- Exposure to more than one product class — prescription, OTC, medical devices or food supplements — given the breadth of Klea’s portfolio.
- Therapy-area familiarity in gastroenterology, respiratory, orthopaedics/rheumatology, urology or pain is an advantage.
- Experience in a small or growing company, where the representative helped build the territory rather than inherit it, is preferred.
5. Skills and attributes
- Scientific credibility. Able to discuss clinical data confidently with a specialist, and simplify it for a pharmacy assistant.
- Integrity. Wins business the right way and says no to non-compliant requests from customers.
- Self-driven and disciplined, with strong planning and territory-management habits.
- Persuasive, resilient communicator who can open doors for a brand the customer has not heard of.
- Accurate and timely in CRM, reporting and sample reconciliation.
- Team player who works well with the distribution partner, marketing and regulatory colleagues.
6. First 12 months — what success looks like
- MOHAP and emirate-level medical representative registration completed within the onboarding period.
- Territory mapped and targeted customer list agreed with the Country Manager within the first 60 days.
- Call-plan coverage and frequency targets met consistently from month three.
- Launch brands introduced to all priority customers in the territory, with measurable prescribing and pharmacy recommendation.
- Territory sales targets achieved, as measured through the distribution partner’s secondary sales data.
- Zero compliance findings: all material approved, samples reconciled, every adverse event reported within 24 hours.
- A reliable flow of field insight to marketing that shapes at least one campaign or tactic.
7. Package
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus a quarterly and annual performance bonus linked to territory targets and a super-achievement bonus for results above target. Transport allowance or company car, medical insurance, annual leave and air ticket in line with UAE Labour Law and Klea policy. Visa and licensing support provided. Specific package to be discussed at offer stage.
