1. Role purpose
Klea Pharmaceuticals is building its UAE and wider MEA presence through in-licensed and acquired portfolios spanning prescription medicines, medical devices and nutraceuticals. As an IP-led company, Klea wins by choosing the right assets, positioning them sharply and executing launches through a lean field force and a distribution partner. The Marketing Manager owns the brand strategy and launch engine for the UAE portfolio, and is the commercial link between Klea’s principals, its distribution partner and its field team.
The postholder wears three hats:
Brand and launch lead — turning each licensed asset into a clear positioning, a launch plan and field-ready tools.
Pricing and business-development partner — building pricing, forecasts and business cases for new opportunities, and supporting in-licensing evaluation.
Principal and distributor manager — running the day-to-day marketing relationship with licensors and the distribution partner.
This is a build role, not a maintenance role. The successful candidate will set up brand plans, processes and agency relationships largely from a blank sheet, while launching several brands at once.
2. Key responsibilities
A. Brand strategy and planning
- Build the annual brand plan for each product: market sizing, patient and customer segmentation, competitive landscape, positioning, key messages, objectives and budget.
- Translate principals’ global brand material into UAE-relevant positioning, adapted to local prescribing habits, pharmacy dynamics and payer realities.
- Set and track brand KPIs — market share, secondary sales, prescription and recommendation trends — and adjust tactics quarterly.
- Manage the marketing budget against plan, with clear return on each major investment.
B. Launch excellence
- Lead cross-functional launch plans from pre-launch to 12 months post-launch, aligned with regulatory approval, pricing and stock-availability dates.
- Develop the field toolkit: detail aids, leave-behinds, objection handlers, pharmacy training kits and digital assets.
- Train and brief the field force on each brand; ride along regularly to test messages and coach execution.
- Plan KOL engagement, advisory boards, CMEs, pharmacy programmes and congress presence.
C. Pricing, forecasting and business development
- Build pricing proposals and reference-country analyses for new products, working with Regulatory Affairs on MOHAP pricing submissions.
- Own volume and value forecasts per brand and SKU; feed them into supply planning and the company budget.
- Evaluate in-licensing and acquisition candidates from a market angle: market size, competition, price point, fit with the field force, and launch business case.
- Contribute to tender, listing and institutional opportunities with pricing and value arguments.
D. Principal and distributor management
- Act as the marketing counterpart for licensors and principals: joint brand plans, quarterly business reviews, marketing-fund agreements and performance reporting.
- Work with the distribution partner on listings, trade terms, in-store visibility, pharmacy-chain activations and stock levels.
- Track sell-in and sell-out data and flag gaps early to the commercial team.
E. Digital, agencies and compliance
- Build Klea’s digital presence for healthcare professionals and, where permitted, consumers — including social media, e-detailing and e-commerce pharmacy platforms.
- Select, brief and manage creative, medical-communication and event agencies.
- Submit all promotional material to the Pharmacist in Charge for approval before use; keep claims within the approved label and MOHAP advertising rules.
- Ensure all marketing activity respects the scientific office licence scope and pharmacovigilance requirements, including adverse-event reporting from digital channels and market research.
3. Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Medicine or a life-science discipline.
- Fluent professional English. Arabic strongly preferred for customer-facing material review and local campaigns.
Desirable
- MBA or postgraduate qualification in marketing or business.
- Formal training in pharmaceutical marketing, forecasting or market access.
4. Experience
- Minimum 6 years in pharmaceutical commercial roles, including at least 3 years in product or brand management in the UAE or GCC.
- Field sales experience as a medical representative or key account manager is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ownership of at least one brand launch from plan to results — candidates should be able to speak to specific launches they led and the numbers they delivered.
- Hands-on pricing, forecasting and business-case work; MOHAP pricing exposure is an advantage.
- Experience managing licensors, principals or a third-party distributor.
- Experience across more than one product class — prescription, OTC, medical devices or nutraceuticals — given the breadth of Klea’s portfolio.
- Experience in a small or start-up affiliate, where the postholder built rather than inherited brand plans, is preferred over large-multinational experience in a narrow lane.
- Exposure to wider GCC, MEA or Francophone Africa markets is an advantage.
5. Skills and attributes
- Strategic and hands-on. Writes the brand plan in the morning and rides with a rep in the afternoon.
- Numerate. Comfortable building forecasts, price models and P&Ls, and defending the assumptions.
- Customer insight. Grounds positioning in what doctors, pharmacists and patients actually do, not in global slogans.
- Partner management. Credible with principals, distributors and agencies; negotiates firmly and keeps relationships strong.
- Compliance-minded. Creative within the rules; treats regulatory review as part of the process, not an obstacle.
- Comfortable operating as a one-person function initially, with the ambition and capability to build a team.
6. First 12 months — what success looks like
- Brand plans approved for every product in the launch portfolio, with KPIs and budgets agreed with leadership.
- Launch brands introduced on schedule, with full field toolkits and trained representatives at launch date.
- Pricing proposals and forecasts delivered for all new registrations, consistent with the commercial plan.
- Quarterly business reviews running with each principal and with the distribution partner.
- Marketing budget delivered within plan, with measurable results for each major activity.
- At least two in-licensing opportunities evaluated with a full market business case.
- Zero promotional compliance findings: all material approved before use.
7. Package
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus performance bonus, medical insurance, annual leave and air ticket in line with UAE Labour Law and Klea policy. Visa support provided. Specific package to be discussed at offer stage.
